Best Locations for Your Perfect Family Photography Session on the Treasure Coast

As South Florida photographers, we use a variety of awesome locations for family sessions. With a range of landscapes, spaces, and vibes, to suit your family and vision.

White City Park, Fort Pierce

It doesn’t get much more magical than White City Park in Fort Pierce. A sweet setting with beautiful foliage, trees, and (my personal favorite) hanging Spanish moss. With beautiful filtered light on a clear day, or moody vibes on a cloudy one, we love every single session at White City.  It’s the perfect location for the hotter months as there is plenty of shade. There is also a playground for fun candid shots or as a post session reward for the kiddos.

Dubois Park in Jupiter is a great choice because of the wide variety of landscapes and backgrounds it offers in one location. Want to have a park with beautiful greenery, lines of palm trees for a tropical feel, the Jupiter Lighthouse in the background, and maybe end your session in the water of the lagoon or the beach? You can have it all! This is perfect for families who want a variety of spaces and aesthetics.

The House of Refuge, in Stuart (also called Ross Witham Beach) is our favorite beach location as it has lots of cool rock formations to get creative with as well as another small beach with a dock on the intracoastal across the street. The smaller beach is perfect for letting little ones get their feet wet when it’s too rough on the Atlantic side. It’s also facing west for those beautiful sunset shots. We also enjoy this beach for stormy moody sessions.

For a session that is a bit off the beaten path, Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound, has a variety of natural habitats including coastal sand hills and sand pine scrub (for that beautiful coast-meets-desert feel with white sand that makes for a dreamy natural light reflector), pine flatwoods (providing filtered light and an abundance of textured greenery), mangroves, and a riverfront on the Loxahatchee River. Explore the many miles of trails through the park on your session and enjoying the beautiful rugged landscape. Note: there is a $6.00 fee for park entrance.

If you are looking for the rustic feel of open fields and tall grass in golden sunlight, look no further than Allapattah Flats. It has acres of natural preserves and full of rustic off-the-beaten-path charm to explore as well as some partially wooded areas for beautiful intimate forest portraits. If you are as adventurous as us, make sure to bring some boots for your session, not just as a perfect accessory but also for practical reasons, as you may want to trek through some tall grass for the perfect shot. Yes, it’s worth it.

Note: We don’t recommend this location for the wetter summer months due to the mosquitoes.

Sewall’s Point Park, Sewall’s Point

Located on the Intracoastal waterway close to Stuart. Sewall’s Point Park is a smaller space compared to others on our list but still makes for a beautiful backdrop. It has a small beach on the intracoastal, tropical palm trees and a great playground for the kids. This location is best for a morning session as it opens towards the east.

Wherever you choose, enjoy your session!!!

Our best advice is to relax, have fun, be yourselves, and enjoy your session! Regardless of the location you choose, the best way you can ensure that you will have beautiful photos is to have fun and enjoy the time together as a family.
